“I love the pressure. During peak periods, I often find myself adapting to fit in and support where required”.

Stephanie Thomas, Event Administrator. Events.

When and why did you join the Rhino team?

November 2015. I originally just came to cover Reception for Maternity leave. 6 years later, I’m still here, providing ad hoc support to our ever-growing Events division.

Tell us about your role.

My role has evolved over time, from providing initial support during a colleague’s maternity leave, to personal assistant to the MD, and onto working with the Events team, providing key support for the coordination and logistics teams.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I’m responsible for booking the events in as well as collating the results on completion. When the rest of the team are in their hey-season, I will often adapt to co-ordinating, providing much needed support.

What motivates you in your career?

I love the people I work with and love feeling needed…

When/where do you feel in your element at work?

I love the pressure. We’ve often taken on bulk bookings across numerous sites for groups such as Bristol Street or Pentagon, essentially co-ordinating up to 40 events at a time. I love being able to take the pressure off the team during peak periods and supporting where required.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An Assassin! I think I saw the film ‘The Day of the Jackal’… I fell in love with the idea of disguises and being a sniper. But I’d only kill bad people… of course!

Tell us about your hobbies. What you get up to outside of work?

I have a bulldog, so I don’t have time for hobbies!! He has ‘eye issues’ so I have to put drops in his eyes up to 9 times a day. He loves his daily walk, so I try to go somewhere different every day of the week.

If I do have time, I love to read. We’ve just built a wine bar at the bottom of our garden, so my husband and I have been very busy hosting parties. We’ve also renovated 2 properties.

What is your favourite movie of all time? Why?

I am a massive film buff so find that question far too hard to answer. Can I change it to favourite book? That’s easy, Catch 22!
