“It’s rewarding to feel like you can make a real difference to the productiveness of your colleagues and in turn the efficiency of the company”.

Gemma Glancey, Assistant Events Manager. Events.

When and why did you join Rhino?

I joined Rhino in July 2010. I had just moved back to the UK from working in Colorado and was looking to do something different. Having worked for a small, family run business previously, the role at Rhino sounded great.

Tell us about your role?

I assist Hayley, our Events Manager, in the Management of the department, maintaining client and supplier relationships as well as implementing and streamlining new & existing processes. I also manage the running of events from start to finish and execute agency briefs to completion.

What inspired you to pursue a career in events management?

I wanted to do something that wasn’t a typically ordinary admin role and that was more challenging. Events Management appealed to my organised nature, and love of planning.

What’s the best thing you’re working on right now?

The implementation of our new system XMPIE is the best thing I am working on at the moment. It’s rewarding to feel like you can make a real difference to the productiveness of your colleagues and in turn the efficiency of the company by helping implement a new system to its best potential.

What does a typical day look like for you?

No day is the same here in our department, as every client and event is different! After almost 11 years working for Rhino, we can still encounter something new which keeps us on our toes. I will catch up with the rest of the team and assist with any queries or support. I will monitor how workload is progressing ensuring deadlines are met. Liaising with clients and almost every department in the business on a daily basis is also essential in ensuring everything runs as smoothly as it possibly can.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Organised. Loyal. Caring.

What are your passions outside of work?

I love to travel although I don’t get the opportunity as much as I’d like to anymore. Also love hiking, camping and looking after my nephew.

Where are three places you’d love to travel to?

Alaska, New Orleans at Mardi Gras and Cambodia are top of my bucket list.
