“Getting to work on challenging projects across the full development life cycle with a great team."

Daniel Birkett, Website Developer. Rhino Group.

Tell us how you started at Rhino?

I started at Rhino over 2 years ago after working as a designer for an extended period. Initially I was involved with email development and have transitioned into full stack development, including taking on additional technical projects both in house and for clients.

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be?

A Full Stack Developer is someone who works with the Back End — or server side — of the application as well as the Front End, or client side. Full Stack Developers have to have some skills in a wide variety of coding niches, from databases to graphic design and UI/UX management in order to do the job well. This accurately describes my role.

What do you get up to in a typical day?

I build and maintain web applications predominantly using Laravel & Vue, both are recognised as elite web development frameworks and integrating both of them can build some awesome web applications.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

Getting to work on challenging projects across the full development life cycle with a great team.

What are the toughest challenges you’ve faced at work?

Thinking of names for variables.

Is there a skill you think everyone should learn?

How to not sit in the middle lane on the motorway.

What was your dream profession growing up?

I wanted to be a scientist.

Finally… tell us something interesting about yourself!

I have no desire to become a scientist.
