“I’ve only ever wanted to work in and around the automotive industry. I quickly learnt where my strengths were, which led me into the role I’m in today.”

Aaron Trigwell, UK Operations Manager. Rhino Events.

Tell us a little bit about your role at Rhino?

As the UK Operations Manager, I’m responsible for our sales and account management team across our automotive events division. I revel in the development of key products and services and delivering them across a host of clients. The Account Management team I support are on the front line with customers daily, setting expectations and ensuring we deliver for our clients.

What inspired you to pursue a career within automotive events and marketing?

I’ve only ever wanted to work around the automotive industry, at one point any role to do with cars would have been fine! I quickly learnt where my strengths were, which led to me to where I am today.

What drew you to the role at Rhino?

As one of the largest automotive event specialists in the UK, the ability to be at the forefront of growth within this sector, was a real draw. I enjoy travelling across the country, interacting with different customers, all with very different objectives and goals to achieve.

What motivates you in your career?

The development of the Rhino brand, as the only choice for marketing and retail sales events in the UK. No pressure.

What does a typical day look like for you?

That’s a toughie. Each day can be extremely varied, which of course keeps things interesting. One day I’m in the office in Hyde, and the next I could be on my way to Cornwall or Kent to see a client. Typically, my day will involve an element of relationship building, client maintenance and sometimes problem solving. I believe there is always a solution; and often it’s my job to find the best way to create or solve a client’s requirements.

What is the biggest professional challenge you have had to overcome?

2020. Covid-19. Lockdown. Need I say more? Following the initial lockdown and just under 2 months of furlough, I spoke to our senior management team discussing plans to bring the business out of a difficult trading period like most businesses hit by the pandemic.
It became apparent that we needed to take risks, despite a period of adversity. We went to work on creating solutions to some of the problems our automotive clients were facing, from virtual events to covid safe signage and point of sale. As an extension to many marketing departments, we stepped up to provide a service that would aid recovery not only for ourselves but for the many businesses we serve.

If you could switch roles with someone for a day, who would it be?

It would have to be any one of our designers - it would be great to be that creative (and to understand how to use the software properly!)

Can you give us a little insight into your passions outside of work?

It’s about to become DIY! My partner and I have recently made the decision to move into a complete do-er upper - so that likely set the tone for the next 12 months. Fun, right?
